Our serious long distance relationship
Was coming to an end.
I was tired of not being with her,
but tired of callin’ her
So I talked to her less and less.
What good is observation?
Oh, what good is it
If you don’t say a thing?
Cause I noticed our spark had been
fading a few weeks before
She had said anything.
She asked “Are you mine?”
“Yeah, I’m totally yours.”
I asked “Are you mine?”
She said “I think I am.,
I just wanted to be sure.”
Well, a week had gone by
Nothing was getting better.
She looked about as interested
as an old man with the paper.
I was trying to be funny,
I was trying to be me.
But “me” wasn’t working,
so I questioned her integrity
And insulted the amount of time
she’d spent with her family
And then she proceeded to
scare the hell out of me
By yelling at my face
for a good 15 minutes
And I guess I deserved it,
but I had almost fainted.
Oh, why did I say it?
What did I have to prove?
I just wanted her to care,
I just wanted us to move
Right out of this phase;
for our spark to re-ignite
And anger was new,
even though it wasn’t right,
and the passage where I could speak
all that was on my mind
was permanently
closed.
At that point she stopped trying,
but I was trying my best.
And I just didn’t know,
so I just had to ask:
“Are you mine?”
“Yes, I’m yours still.”
She asked “Are you mine?”
I said “I think I am,
But i’m not too sure anymore.”
Verse 3:
My heart is weary from all the false hope I’ve clung to.
I dread every time that I have to come talk to you.
The thought of cheating never crossed my mind,
But now I understand why people do it sometimes, you see
When people stop trying, they’ve long lost their interest.
I thought you had lost yours a little while before I did.
Yet ironically enough, you still wanted us together.
And on our last night, you begged for an answer:
“Are you mine? "
"Are you mine?”
She asked: “Are you mine?”
“No I'm totally not!”
But I love you, I always do.
And I love you, I always do.
We tried so hard,
and look where we are.
We tried so hard,
And look where we are.
